Customer Responsibility

As a Water Customer, You Are Responsible for:

  • Paying your water bill promptly.
  • Providing access for City representatives to read or service your water meter.
  • Ensuring your water meter remains in good condition and does not freeze.
  • Addressing any water leaks and plumbing issues within your property, including the water pipes connecting your home to the city's water main.
  • Maintaining and repairing, if necessary, the sanitary and storm sewer lateral lines from your property to the main sewer line.
  • Contacting the Department of Public Works at 311 within city limits, or (302) 576-2620, if:
    • You notice any inaccuracies on your bill.
    • Your bill shows an estimated or zero reading.
    • Your meter is damaged.
    • There are hazardous conditions such as leaks or damaged infrastructure (e.g., hydrants, inlets).
    • You need to update your address.
