Water Distribution

Small Mains Replacements

Annual Water Improvements are regularly undertaken by the utility to enhance water quality, pressure, fire flows, and overall service levels for water district customers. Water mains reaching the end of their service life due to age or frequent breakages are replaced with cementitious-lined ductile iron pipes. Lead and galvanized services are removed and substituted with copper pipes, while outdated control valves and fire hydrants are also replaced.

Fire Hydrant Flow Testing

The City conducts fire hydrant assessments to ensure compliance with operational standards, helping municipalities meet regulatory requirements. Hydrant flow testing is crucial for evaluating water main capacity and understanding hydrant performance during emergencies.

Valve Exercising

The City routinely conducts leak detection activities and maintains various types of water system valves. They use hydraulic valve turning machines to operate valves and ensure proper functionality. Working valves maintains the integrity and efficiency of the water system and allow for planned and unplanned water shutdowns during routine projects or emergencies.
